Golden Crescent RCTP: 5-Year Transportation Needs Plan and Grant Guidance

The Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission (GCRPC), as the lead agency for the regionally coordinated transportation planning (RCTP) effort completed a 5-year update to the transportation needs of the Golden Crescent region. The 5-year plan address the specific needs of the region along with potential solutions offered to begin to address the identified issues. This plan will guide the direction of all grants that will be awarded regarding transportation needs.

RCTP: Enhancing Public Transit for Priority Populations through Coordinated Planning

The purpose of the Regionally Coordinated Transportation Plan (RCTP) effort is to provide more efficient and effective public transportation services, especially for priority populations including seniors (65 and older), persons with disabilities, persons with low incomes, veterans, youth, and others. This effort includes developing, adopting, implementing, and updating a coordinated public transit/human services plan as well as assessing progress of activities called for in the plan.

GCRPC Forms RPO for Non-Metro Transportation Collaboration

GCRPC is currently in the process of establishing a Regional Planning Organization under TEA-21 legislation, which calls for state departments of transportation to work with official in non-metropolitan areas when making transportation planning and programming decisions. The RPO’s function will be to serve as a forum for communication between state transportation agencies and local non-metropolitan governments and develop the region’s priority list of transportation projects.

5-year Regionally Coordinated Transportation Plan (2022-2026)

The Golden Crescent region includes four types of public transportation providers: 1) urban/rural, 2) non-emergency medical, 3) private sector organizations, and 4) client-based providers. The goal of this section is to identify the different types of public transportation resources and assets that are available within the region.

Formed in 1968, The Golden Crescent Regional Planning Commission (GCRPC) is a voluntary association of local governments and special districts within the seven-county Golden Crescent region encompassing Calhoun, DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Jackson, Lavaca, and Victoria counties.
